Happy Spring and almost Summer! It is hard to believe the first quarter of 2012 has passed us by and we are well on our way to Summer! And this year I think it has brought out the Buyers! Daily I hear REALTORS® say they are busy and the phone is ringing and that is a wonderful thing! 2012 is off to a good start as we are “Developing Leaders for Success.”

The Georgia Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® has been busy this year as well. We loved having Amy Chorew as our keynote speaker at our Membership Meeting in February at Point Clear, Alabama. Amy is always inspiring us to do more and learn more with technology and she did not disappoint but challenged us with techniques and tips for improving our websites. Thank you, Amy!

Congratulations to Sherry Scranage, Fayette Chapter, who was named Georgia Women’s Council of REALTORS® Member of the Year in Point Clear and to Stephen Walker also of the Fayette Chapter who was named Georgia Women’s Council of REALTORS® Entrepreneur of the Year.

We welcome Dianne Kessler, Immediate Past President, Savannah Chapter, to the Georgia Chapter’s Leadership Team as Secretary and are excited to have Dianne on the 2012 State Leadership Team. Rachel Mooney has taken the role as Co-Chair Communication/Marketing as she embarks on a new career opportunity while still remaining active as a real estate broker. Thanks, Rachel for your hard work as Secretary the first quarter of 2012.

Georgia was thrilled to host our National President, Bobbie Nelson March 7-8, 2012 with the Local Chapter Presidents’ dinner and our Joint Chapters Membership Meeting and Luncheon at the Druid Hills Golf Club on a gorgeous spring day. This continues the tradition over the last five years to have the National President visit Georgia. There was energy in the room as REALTORS® and Affiliate Members alike gathered to hear Bobbie inspire and challenge us. Thank you, Bobbie!

We invite you to join us in Washington, D.C. May 17-20 for Mid-Year Meetings and the REALTOR® Rally. If you have never been to Washington, D.C. NAR/WCR, this is a great year to go. Join us as the REALTORS® rally on Thursday, May 17th declaring that Home Ownership Matters and WCR Gets It!

The education provided at the National WCR Meetings in Washington is always incredible in addition to the awesome networking opportunities. You don’t want to miss this! Register today at www.realtor.org and sign up as a WCR member. Visit www.wcr.org to view the schedule of events and speakers for the Mid-Year Meetings.

Jim Rohn in his Treasury of Leadership Quotes said “The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude. Be kind, but not weak. Be bold, but not a bully. Be thoughtful, but not lazy. Be humble, but not timid. Be proud, but not arrogant. Have humor, but without folly. “

Respectfully,

Sylvia Brush

2012 State Chapter President
